AI job matching

AI job matcher for UK roles that already exist

Job Matches is a UK job-matching platform that compares a candidate’s CV and preferences with live vacancies and ranks relevant roles by fit. It is UK-focused, it does not submit applications, and it is not a keyword job-board search.

Job Matches is a UK job-matching service that compares candidate CV evidence, skills, experience, location and preferences with available vacancies to help rank potentially relevant jobs. Matching UK vacancies to a candidate CV is the core product. Ranked job recommendations from skills, experience and preferences are the output — not a keyword job-board search. Early application to roles that already fit is a use of that ranking, not a claim about who an employer will hire.

What an AI job matcher is, on Job Matches

An AI job matcher here reads the CV you upload, combines it with the titles, locations, seniority and exclusions you set, then scores vacancies Job Matches has already collected. A language model helps rank the roles that pass those filters and writes a short explanation. Keyword overlap alone does not keep a role: seniority and location can reject it first.

Vacancies come from candidate searches and first-party employer posts in the Job Matches dataset, not from a licensed copy of every UK job board. Counts, sources and gaps are published on the UK vacancy dataset. After a match, you review it and apply yourself. Job Matches does not email employers or claim to know who will be hired.

How Job Matches turns a CV into ranked UK vacanciesFour-step process. Job Matches reads CV evidence, compares it with UK vacancies in its current dataset, applies skills, experience, seniority, location and preferences, then ranks potentially relevant jobs. The candidate makes the application decision.1Read CV evidence

The matching pipeline, in product order

  1. CV parsing. Your upload becomes a career snapshot: recent titles, skills, tools and inferred years. Ranking reads that snapshot. If the CV is thin, the matcher has less to work with — there is no hidden enrichment from LinkedIn unless you add it.
  2. Preferences you type. Desired roles, UK locations, hybrid/remote, experience level and exclusions. These sit next to the CV. A “product manager” preference will not override a CV that is clearly audit.
  3. Skills and role keywords. Overlap on titles and tools moves the score after seniority and location already fit. This is why two analysts in the same city can still rank differently.
  4. Location. Second only to experience. Commute, city and remote flags are not buried in a keyword bag.
  5. Live job matching. Search runs on your plan cadence (weekly on Free through the profile setting, daily on Pro, with digest email). New vacancies are scored when they appear, not only when you open a tab.

What this AI job matcher does not do

  • It does not scrape a secret hidden job market that nobody else can see.
  • It does not auto-apply, auto-message hiring managers, or pretend to be you.
  • It does not treat company brand as a reason to keep or kill a role on its own.
  • It does not give snippet-only jobs a confident 90. Those are capped at 62.

Fit scores you can inspect

Each match shows a score and a sentence tied to the rules above. That is the product surface — the same pattern as the morning digest preview on the homepage.

Fit 84

Your operations and reporting experience matches the seniority band. London hybrid is in your locations. Keywords overlap on Excel, process and stakeholder reporting.

Fit 76

Role keywords match MI / reporting. Manchester is listed in your locations. Seniority sits inside your mid-level band, so it is kept rather than rejected.

Fit 61

Title and city look relevant, but the listing is a card snippet with no full description. Snippet-only matches are capped at 62 and labelled low confidence until a fuller spec is fetched.

Low confidence
  1. 1. Strongest

    Experience and seniority

Required years and title seniority can keep or reject a role before anything else. A director listing will not rank well against a graduate profile, and the reverse is also filtered.

  2. 2. Second

    Location

Your saved cities, hybrid/remote flags and UK radius matter almost as much as seniority. A strong skills overlap will not rescue a role in a city you excluded.

  3. 3. Third

    Role keywords and skills

Desired job titles, CV skills and tools (for example Excel, audit, Python) move the fit score once experience and location already fit.

  4. 4. Modest boost

    Preferences

Salary band, working pattern and other preferences can lift a score slightly when they align. They do not override a seniority or location miss.

  5. 5. Soft

    Your save / ignore history

Roles similar to jobs you saved can rise a little; similar to jobs you ignored can fall. Company name alone is the weakest signal and will not reject a good experience/location/keyword fit.

  6. 6. Confidence cap

    Listing completeness

If Job Matches only has a public card snippet, the match is labelled low confidence and the score is capped at 62 until a fuller description is available.

AI job matching FAQs

What does the AI job matcher actually do?
It reads your uploaded CV, combines it with titles, locations and seniority you set, then scores live UK vacancies. A language model helps rank and explain matches against those rules. It does not invent jobs or apply for you.
Is this AI job matching or just keyword search?
Both, on purpose. Hard filters (experience band, location, obvious seniority mismatches) run first. The model then scores remaining roles and writes a short explanation. Snippet-only listings are capped at a fit score of 62.
Which AI features are in the product today?
CV parsing into a career snapshot, ranked matching with a fit score and explanation, save/ignore memory that slightly adjusts later scores, and optional tailored CV and covering-letter packs when you shortlist a role.
Will an AI agent email employers for me?
No. Job Matches finds and ranks. You apply. That is a product decision, not a missing feature.

Job-board search, alerts, and CV matching

  • Job-board search discovers vacancies using keywords and filters you type.
  • A job alert notifies you when new listings match those same criteria.
  • CV matching compares evidence on a CV with vacancy requirements.
  • Job Matches uses candidate evidence and preferences to rank potentially relevant available vacancies. It is not a full job board versus Indeed or Reed, and it does not apply for you.
