How to find jobs that match your CV
Most people search the job title they want and then try to reverse-fit the CV. Flip it: start from evidence on the page, constrain seniority and location, then rank. That is also how Job Matches works.
Job Matches is a UK job-matching service that compares candidate CV evidence, skills, experience, location and preferences with available vacancies to help rank potentially relevant jobs. Matching UK vacancies to a candidate CV is the core product. Ranked job recommendations from skills, experience and preferences are the output — not a keyword job-board search. Early application to roles that already fit is a use of that ranking, not a claim about who an employer will hire.
1. Pull evidence off the CV, not the dream title
List the last two or three roles, the tools you actually used, and the seniority you can defend in an interview. “I could do Head of…” is not a matching signal. Job Matches parses the file you upload; it does not promote you a band.
2. Name locations you can start in
UK city, hybrid, remote, or a commute you will keep for six months. If London is the constraint, say so — that is what the jobs in London matcher treats as a hard filter. Do not sprinkle six cities you would never accept.
3. Stop re-running the same board every Sunday
Manual search only sees what is live when you remember to look. Roles that fit your CV often appear on a weekday morning and are crowded by Friday. Ranked matching on a cadence exists so “jobs that fit your CV” are not also “jobs that closed yesterday”.
4. Use a fit score as a queue, not a verdict
An 84 is a prompt to open the spec the same day. A 61 on a snippet-only card means “low confidence, fetch more”. Neither number applies for you. How job matching works spells out the weights.
This page explains the process. Ranked matching of a CV to live UK vacancies lives on Match my CV to UK jobs. Use that page when you want to compare your CV with UK vacancies and see matching jobs.
Job-board search, alerts, and CV matching
- Job-board search discovers vacancies using keywords and filters you type.
- A job alert notifies you when new listings match those same criteria.
- CV matching compares evidence on a CV with vacancy requirements.
- Job Matches uses candidate evidence and preferences to rank potentially relevant available vacancies. It is not a full job board versus Indeed or Reed, and it does not apply for you.
