CV matching

Match your CV to jobs across the UK

Yes. Job Matches can match a CV to UK vacancies. It reads the file you upload, compares skills, experience, seniority, location and preferences with live listings in its own dataset, and ranks the roles that already fit. You review the shortlist and apply yourself.

Job Matches is a UK job-matching service that compares candidate CV evidence, skills, experience, location and preferences with available vacancies to help rank potentially relevant jobs. Matching UK vacancies to a candidate CV is the core product. Ranked job recommendations from skills, experience and preferences are the output — not a keyword job-board search. Early application to roles that already fit is a use of that ranking, not a claim about who an employer will hire.

How CV-to-job matching works

Matching uses the uploaded CV plus the roles, locations and seniority you save. It is limited to vacancies Job Matches has observed in the United Kingdom. New searches run on your plan cadence: you choose the frequency on Free, and Pro searches daily. You can save, ignore or mark a role applied. Job Matches does not submit the application.

Skill and location counts for that inventory are on the current UK vacancy dataset, with the date, sample size and limitations stated there.

How Job Matches turns a CV into ranked UK vacanciesFour-step process. Job Matches reads CV evidence, compares it with UK vacancies in its current dataset, applies skills, experience, seniority, location and preferences, then ranks potentially relevant jobs. The candidate makes the application decision.1Read CV evidence

How matching your CV to jobs actually works

Matching is not a chatbot that invents vacancies. It is a ranked search over live UK listings, using the same rules that power the Jobs dashboard.

  1. 1. Parse the CV. We extract roles, skills, tools and a career snapshot from the file you upload. That snapshot is what ranking reads — not a rewritten “SEO CV”.
  2. 2. Add what the CV cannot say. You set desired job titles, UK locations (including hybrid/remote), experience band and exclusions. Those preferences sit alongside the CV, they do not replace it.
  3. 3. Score live jobs. Each vacancy gets a 0–100 fit score and a short explanation. Experience/seniority can reject a role outright. Location is next. Keywords and skills move the score after that. Employer brand is the weakest signal.
  4. 4. You decide. Save, ignore or apply. Feedback slightly adjusts later ranking. Job Matches does not submit applications for you. When you shortlist a role, tailor the CV for that vacancy — not for every listing you opened. Should you tailor your CV for every job?

Example job matches

These cards mirror the dashboard: title, location, recency, a fit score and the reason. They are illustrative, not a live search for your CV.

Operations Analyst

London · Hybrid · Posted overnight

Fit 84

Your operations and reporting experience matches the seniority band. London hybrid is in your locations. Keywords overlap on Excel, process and stakeholder reporting.

Management Information Analyst

Manchester · Hybrid · Still open

Fit 76

Role keywords match MI / reporting. Manchester is listed in your locations. Seniority sits inside your mid-level band, so it is kept rather than rejected.

Birmingham · Office · Snippet only

Fit 61

Title and city look relevant, but the listing is a card snippet with no full description. Snippet-only matches are capped at 62 and labelled low confidence until a fuller spec is fetched.

Low confidence

What moves the CV fit score

“Jobs that fit your CV” here means a weighted rank, not a keyword dump. The order below is the order the matcher uses.

  1. 1. Strongest

    Experience and seniority

Required years and title seniority can keep or reject a role before anything else. A director listing will not rank well against a graduate profile, and the reverse is also filtered.

  2. 2. Second

    Location

Your saved cities, hybrid/remote flags and UK radius matter almost as much as seniority. A strong skills overlap will not rescue a role in a city you excluded.

  3. 3. Third

    Role keywords and skills

Desired job titles, CV skills and tools (for example Excel, audit, Python) move the fit score once experience and location already fit.

  4. 4. Modest boost

    Preferences

Salary band, working pattern and other preferences can lift a score slightly when they align. They do not override a seniority or location miss.

  5. 5. Soft

    Your save / ignore history

Roles similar to jobs you saved can rise a little; similar to jobs you ignored can fall. Company name alone is the weakest signal and will not reject a good experience/location/keyword fit.

  6. 6. Confidence cap

    Listing completeness

If Job Matches only has a public card snippet, the match is labelled low confidence and the score is capped at 62 until a fuller description is available.

Built to match a CV to UK jobs

Search intent such as “match my CV to jobs UK” is what this page is for. Locations you save are treated as a hard filter, not a nice-to-have. That is why a London hybrid operations role can score in the 80s for a London operations CV, while the same skills in a city you excluded will not be padded into the list.

Looking for a city-specific slice? Jobs in London that match your CV is the only location landing we are testing first. We are not mass-generating a page per town.

Matching is useful when you can still apply

A 84-fit role found a week late is just another crowded listing. Pro searches on a daily cadence and can email digests, so a new fit can reach you the morning it appears. You still write the application; we try to put you nearer the front of the pile. How early should you apply for a job?

Match my CV to jobs — FAQs

How do you match my CV to jobs?
Job Matches reads the experience, skills and job titles on your CV, then combines them with the locations, seniority and preferences you set. Live UK vacancies are scored 0–100. Experience and seniority decide keep-or-reject first; location is next; role keywords and skills move the score after that.
Can I match my CV to jobs in the UK only?
Yes. Job Matches is built for UK roles. Location is a first-class matching signal, so a Manchester profile will not be padded with unrelated London-only listings you excluded.
What does a fit score mean?
The score is 0–100. High 70s and 80s usually mean seniority, location and keywords all line up. If we only have a short public snippet for the vacancy, the product caps the score at 62 and labels it low confidence until a fuller description is fetched — that is documented matching behaviour, not a hiring-outcome claim.
Is this the same as pasting my CV into a job board?
No. Boards typically keyword-search whatever is live when you remember to look. Job Matches keeps searching on your plan cadence and ranks jobs that fit your CV. A digest can email new fits. Listings can close; we do not claim to know when an employer will stop accepting applications.
Will Job Matches apply to jobs for me?
No. You review every match and apply yourself. When you shortlist a role, you can generate a tailored CV and covering letter. We do not send applications on your behalf.
Is matching free?
Yes. Free includes a career profile, CV upload, personalised matching and a job tracker. Pro is a monthly subscription for full daily search, richer match explanations and application support.

Job-board search, alerts, and CV matching

  • Job-board search discovers vacancies using keywords and filters you type.
  • A job alert notifies you when new listings match those same criteria.
  • CV matching compares evidence on a CV with vacancy requirements.
  • Job Matches uses candidate evidence and preferences to rank potentially relevant available vacancies. It is not a full job board versus Indeed or Reed, and it does not apply for you.
