UK Job Market Snapshot: September 2026

A transparent snapshot of the vacancy data currently powering Job Matches, including coverage, quality and limitations.

Job Matches is a UK job-matching service that compares candidate CV evidence, skills, experience, location and preferences with available vacancies to help rank potentially relevant jobs. Matching UK vacancies to a candidate CV is the core product. Ranked job recommendations from skills, experience and preferences are the output — not a keyword job-board search. Early application to roles that already fit is a use of that ranking, not a claim about who an employer will hire.

As of 21 September 2026, the Job Matches live data-quality report contained 2,432 unique vacancy records from 2,543 sampled observations, including 2,386 active vacancies. This is a snapshot of the vacancies currently available to Job Matches, not an estimate of the total UK labour market.

What the dataset currently contains

The snapshot records 2,432 unique vacancies and 2,386 active vacancies. The measured duplicate rate is 4.4% and 1.9% of vacancies are classified as stale. Every vacancy in the current snapshot has an occupation classification.

Current source coverage

The source mix is highly concentrated. LinkedIn contributes 2,339 records. Other sources currently represented include Zopa via Lever (44), Reed (34), Griffin via Ashby (3), Adzuna (2), and individual Greenhouse or employer feeds including Adyen, Coinbase, GoCardless, Intercom, Jane Street, Monzo, N26, Stripe and SumUp. Because one source dominates this snapshot, the figures should not be treated as representative market share for UK recruitment platforms.

Data completeness

The current quality report shows 21.5% of vacancy records without extracted skills, 86.1% without salary data, 12.1% without location data and 14.6% without an identified employer. These gaps matter when interpreting matching, salary or skills analysis and are reported rather than silently filled.

How Job Matches uses this data

Job Matches uses vacancy information alongside candidate CV experience, skills, location and preferences to rank potentially relevant roles. The service does not claim that this dataset covers every UK vacancy, and it does not infer employer hiring decisions or application outcomes.

Methodology

These figures come from the Job Matches production data-quality report generated from the live vacancy store. Records are deduplicated into unique vacancies, classified as active or stale, checked for missing structured fields and grouped by source. The figures are point-in-time operational data and will change as feeds refresh.

Limitations

This dataset is not a statistically balanced sample of the whole UK labour market. Source concentration, missing salary fields and incomplete skills extraction can bias aggregate observations. Any future role, skills or salary insight published by Job Matches should state its date range, record count, source coverage and relevant missing-data rate.

Why publish the methodology

Job-market claims are only useful when readers can see what was measured. Job Matches will use this methodology as the provenance layer for future vacancy, skills and role insights, so candidates, employers and AI systems can distinguish measured data from general marketing claims.

Job-board search, alerts, and CV matching

  • Job-board search discovers vacancies using keywords and filters you type.
  • A job alert notifies you when new listings match those same criteria.
  • CV matching compares evidence on a CV with vacancy requirements.
  • Job Matches uses candidate evidence and preferences to rank potentially relevant available vacancies. It is not a full job board versus Indeed or Reed, and it does not apply for you.
